I would have lined-up the pipe extending down from the water tower with the spigot on the radiator which would seem to imply that the radiator is being filled by the tower, Doing that would have shown more of the left headlight which is somewhat cut-off.

That's funny, because I was intentionally trying not to line them up! Of course that line of thinking didn't occur to me at the time. That's probably the biggest thing wrong with the image - I was just trying to make an image with the truck and the water tower, with no thought as to what they had to do with each other!Originally Posted by tgtaylor

Yeah, I do it all the time myself. It pays to step back for a minute or two...or five, and really examine the composition instead of rushing to trip the shutter. But a lot of times you're worrying about people coming into the scene, changing light, etc., and you're rushed. It's only after you have the print in hand that you can sit back and examine it like you should have done initially.
