Hey guys,
I have an old Wollensak Vitax lens with a studio shutter. None of the releases I have have a long enough plunger to open the lens all the way. Anyone know which cable releases might work?

Not yet.
I had Carol Miller at Flutot's cla a studio shutter for me.
She suggested that I flatten the end of the cable release with a file to improve the way it worked with the studio shutter.
You need the long throw, but might also try adjusting the end too.

Thanks Vincent. Will look at Flutot's. How much did you pay for the cla?
Take your lens to a camera store that sells cable releases and try them out. Some have a "short" throw and other have a "long" throw. I've had the same problem with 8x10 lens and that's how I resolved it.

I would suggest the very solid and long throw Prontor Professional shutter cable that was made to manage the Prontor Prof size 3 shutter which is a cock and fire type. I believe stocks are low and you may have to ring around a bit. Anything covered in cloth will last only days.
Thanks Steven. Do you have any suggestions on who to call fir the Prontor?
perfect release for that shutter is a de groff.
new ( if you can find one ! ) they are expensive, but
it is the last release you will ever buy.
used you can find the pistons on eBoink
flood it with graphite
get a blood pressure hose + bulb it will last another 100 years.
i have one, use it for betax, as well as studio shutters.
the studio i can get the speed to be slow, or fast or B just by the
way i squeeze the bulb.
good luck, great lens !
