    Homebuilt enlarger...

    Hello,

I'm building an horizontal enlarger starting from my old wooden camera (Like AA). I think to adapte two condenser lens that I have found on ebay. Anyone of you can tell me what's minimum size of condenser to print 13x18 negative film?

    Thanks.

23cm - the condensers need to cover the negative.

    Hi Massimo,

I made my horizontal enlarger from my 8 x 10 Kodak 2D and it works great. Have you considered a diffusion enlarger rather than condenser? I made it a diffusion enlarger with a 10 x 10 cold light head just pushed up against the back of the camera. I removed the ground glass and cut the internal septum out of an old 8 x 10 wooden film holder which is now my negative holder. Just insert it into the camera back, push the cold light head up against the back of the camera and it's ready to go. Got a couple of lenses for it off of Ebay - a 240 Nikor and a 300 Rodenstock. Once I found the cold light head and got the lenses, the rest only cost me a few dollars.

Of course Ansel's enlarger used a diffusion head. That is no condensers.

    Hi Dan,

I wonder if you could send me some picture of your cold light head on my private mail: massimo.stirner@libero.it. It can inspire me.

    Thanks.
