I decided I had to shave the beard and cut off my crazy Oompa-Loompa hairdo, but before I did I set up a Platon-style wide angle self-portrait in the back yard. If only I could project this level of (apparent) confidence in real life!

I shaved it off because it was becoming a hassle, with food getting stuck in it and such. I'm not good at trimming it or choosing a style, so I just let it grow wild until I can't take it any more, then shave it and grow it back.

We only get to see Keith once or twice a year and it is always a pleasure. This is the second year he has allowed me to make a photograph. Before, he was to shy.

    Camera – Kodak Full Plate (6 ½ x 8 ½)
Lens – Wollensak Portrait F-5 with Packard Shutter and ND Filter
Film – Kodak Plus X processed in HC-110 at 50/1
