Is Charcoal printing is carbon printing?

Nasser might have a valid Question or point there. I can't think of any carbon used in Carbon printing, jello yes. There is also a lot of carbon in charcoal. Can be confusing sometimes.

He is trying to use "charcoal printing" to mean "carbon". And doesn't print himself, but "entrusts the charcoal to the Fresson laboratory" in Paris. If you read up, you'll find they make their own special variant of carbon printing. He probably just wants to sound "different"… BTW, charcoal can be used in carbon printing - just like any other pigment you could think of…

Maybe he's thinking lampblack is just pulverized charcoal instead of soot?

Something like that… Probably thinking along the line of carbon = coal = charcoal…

Charbon (french) = coal/charcoal another name for the pigment print (not inkjet) in german ist Kohledruck = Charbon print
Atelier Fresson calls it charcoal print (english site) and procéde charbon (french site) so it's not the photographer who wants to sound different but the photographer using the process name from Fresson
