    newbie lens board question

    Hi guys,

I just bought a Schneider - Kreuznach Symmar-S MC f5.6 210mm Sinar Engraved lens off Ebay. I believe it has a Copal 1 shutter.

    Just to confirm:
    - I need a Sinar board with a #1 size hole
    - need some sort of tool to mount the lens. I read somewhere on this forum that I can get said tool from Calumet. Is this correct?

    Thanks!
    Randhir

    Re: newbie lens board question

Calumet, Rodenstock, I think S. K. Grimes sells their custom one too...
If you want to do things by the book, get the tool. I never bothered. I just hand tighten the shutter while holding the retaining ring to the back of the board. This works well unless you have one of those shutters with the place holdinng screw that keeps the shutter from turning.
Others may say you need to tighten it with a lens wrench. I check my lenses occasionally when using them, and tighten on the chance when I find one getting loose. I have been fortunate to have never had one unscrew and fall off.
The tool isn't a necessity to get started unless you can't take it off its existing board.
