v700 trouble

I just purchased a v700 and am having what seems to be communication troubles.
I'm using 10.7 with silver fast SE 8. The software picks up the scanner when opened and allows me to make all edits. Once I push the scan button it goes through the process but crashes once it gets to the saving stage, giving me an "error from epson" message.

Any thoughts?

Unplug everything, the lid included, and trash the preferences file (I haven't done this in awhile and don't remember where it is). Then plug everything in and let it reboot and recalibrate.

Did you unlock the scanner ? It has a lock which holds the scanning head in place to protect it during shipping.

Have you tried running EpsonScan (what I use) until you figure out the Silverfast issues ? Maybe an email to Silverfast to see if there are any known compatibility issues ?

thanks for all of the responses guys. Deleting the preferences folder seems to have worked. So far I've done a few quick low res. scans successfully. This afternoon I'll try an 8x10 neg at a printable size.
