Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre was born 224 years ago today, November 18, 1787. Google has created an icon (today only) in his honor.

Oddly, November 18 is also my birthday, although I am only a fifth of his age.

By the way, an exhibition of used photo stuff is hold in Daguerre's birthplace on the Sunday close to the 18th of November. It's today, at Cormeilles-en-Parisis.
