    Re: Around the house?

Paul Strand's book "The World On My Doorstep" could be of some inspiration, but he went further than his house as he considered the world as a 'house to live in'...
Once of age, the photo's he made in his garden in Orgeval (Yvelines, France) are splendid!

Anyway, I got inspired by him:

peroxide reversal, avocado plants on sill

    process is as follows:

    develop paper negative
    vinegar stop
H2O2 with a little vinegar in it you might have to experiment to figure out what amount works for you ..
    image bleaches to paper base
    paper in bright light,
put back in developer, then stop and fix wash &c.
you can substitute citric acid instead of vinegar

Exploring density and structure out the back window of my apartment.
I like the way Stephen Shore talks about structure in his essay "Form and Pressure"

Not much time to take a guitar out, let alone open a case, with a 2 year old, but this is from last summer.

Beautiful shot, beautiful guitar. A 2yr old? Forget everything, Pack everything until they are 14 or so. Hahahaha. I pretty much gave up all my hobbies and sports until they were in middle school. Then the little dudes will have play time with other kids and then you slowly get to do your things.

Don't worry, last night I was watching a movie and I thought "wow, I miss making my kids breakfast lunches and dinners". Now one lives in Boston and another in SF. I wish I can have that time back with them.

Once about 5yr old I took them with me in the studio (and sometimes in the dark room) when my wife had to work too and I had a rush job…

    Re: Around the house?

Thank you, Martin, Eric & PH - I've been conditioning my little one to LF since he was a kid - have set up the living room as a portrait studio & will share some of the long-term series to the Portrait threads...but, yeah - hobbies? Yeah, right...

My son does have a Holga, though, and I'm getting him used to remote flash striggers - he's already taken an 8x10 selfie with a bulb release...

    Re: Around the house?

Just testing out my old Gossen SBC reflective. I usually use a Sekonic studio metering but I'm practicing my reflective metering especially with white on white.

    EDU 400@ 200, HC110, Xenar 150mm
I metered about 2 feet from window on left. Metered for grey, added 2 stops to get more white, and then added another 1/2 stop just to be sure. I kinda got sort of white, oh well, I'll do better with whites next time.

People asks me "where's all your stuff??". I hate a busy counter.

    Re: Around the house?

Ericantonio, in a scene like this, you surely know, metering is especially tricky. White at the 2-ft place means a blank window unless given very special treatment. You have some detail left, and undoubtedly more in the neg. I'd say you're within a half-stop of "reading white," plus, possibly, less than a 1/2-grade contrast boost in the print to add a hint of brilliance.
