Ansco 130 stock solution life expectancy

I just uncovered a 3/4 of a gallon jug of A-130 stock solution from April 2007
I know this stuff is supposed to be long lived, but....?

One of the most useful thing I learned from Fred Picker and his Newsletters.

    heyjohn

it might be perfect not for paper negatives,
or processing film since it might have lost some
    of its potency ..

    have fun!

Re: Ansco 130 stock solution life expectancy

I think it will work but will not be anything like it was when fresh. I let my 130 lie neglected many times. It turned to a dark syrup and took on a curious smell, and seemed to have sucked all the air out of the bottles.

I should mention I used those generic brown plastic bottles which are somewhat permeable. If you're using glass or something like it you might get much better shelf life than I did. I think I could get up to a year out of it if the bottle stayed mostly full, but I don't remember very well. Usually I'd either use it up much faster than this or neglect it for much longer.
