    Help! Processing Problems

I've been developing with a Jobo 2551 on a rotary base successfully for a while, and just ran into a bad batch. Here are the details:

1000ml Pyrocat-MC 1:1:100 for 8 minutes at 70F, T-Max 400. This is the first time I've developed T-Max 400. Mostly have been doing Efke 25 and 100, as well as Arista EDU 400, all successful (and those are what I mainly took on the trip). Since these 8 photos, I've used the same developer for 8 Efke 100 4x5's (800 ml) on the jobo and for a roll of 120 Acros 100 with hand agitation, so I know the developer is ok.

I'm wondering if 1000ml is too much for the jobo 2551. I had boosted to at least 800 due to fatigue of the pyrocat-mc at lower volumes with 8 negatives in the tank. Perhaps 800 gives a better flow?

What do you think? Here's one example, followed by the link to the other 7 below.

The other photos are numbers 21-28 in this gallery:

Also, do negatives developed in Pyro developer commonly show different contrast characteristics between scans and prints?

Definitely, due to the color of the stain the pyro produces. This causes differences from the color sensitivity of the print material versus the scanners color bias.

I'd throw them back in a tray of fixer for a while; tmax take twice as long to properly fix and won't be hurt by a little too much fixing. It's an easy problem to eliminate.

By "same developer" do you mean the re-using the developer, or from the same batch of concentrate?

I meant the same batch of concentrate. I'll fix em a bit longer too

You will want to be sure the fix is neutral to alkaline so the stain is not faded out from extended fixing.
