    Century #2 Sliding Carriage.

O.K. so I picked up another Century studio camera. This one is 10a/1a w/ a very useful #2 sliding carriage. This has a dual spring backs w/ a built in dark slide.

This way you can focus on one 8x10 back while having the other loaded w/ a holder (w/ dark slide pulled) After achieving focus you slide the other spring back in place w/ holder (dark slide pulled). Then slide the built in dark slide to the other side & shoot.

It doesn't sound faster but I would say it makes the 1st shot twice as fast as the traditional one spring back Carriage.

Anyways, I thought this was interesting. So here's a few photos of the #2 sliding carriage.

This is the first #2 carriage I have seen. Have you seen one before? Do you have one & if so, do you find it useful?

Nice to see a real one instead of imaging how it might look!

Wow, looks nothing like mine. I better get it out and try to figure out what you are showing.....I've always used mine as "just a back."
