I drove a few miles this past week-end on my all time favorite roadway, The Blue Ridge Parkway. The BRP travels from mid Virginia down the North South width of North Carolina for a total of 469 miles. All the miles are a show place for the Blue Ridge Mountains. With 20 million annual visitors each year it is the most visited unit of the National Park Service. It is a wonderful drive. I have spent many days enjoying and photographing all 469 miles.
This shot is of Devils Courthouse with Looking Glass Rock in the distant. The elevation is 5340 feet, not high for the Rockies standard, but high for our Eastern Mountains.
Camera- Super Graflex and 127mm Lens
Film- Ilford Delta 100 in DDX
I grew up in that area, and find it virtually impossible to make any exciting landscapes (nearly every interesting landscape shot that one sees includes a mountain stream -- but enough is enough). It's beautiful to look at (especially the Autumn colors) but IMHO it just ain't "photogenic." Not even Cade's Cove.
