    Repair or replace digital scale

    Hi All,

I have an Ohaus CS-200 that the LCD is messed up... only displays a part of the characters, making it unreadable. Does anyone have experience with getting these repaired? If it reaches past $50 to repair, I might as well buy another unit.

If I buy another unit, I'm looking at something in the 200 - 700 gram range, with .1 gm accuracy. Any suggestions and/or sources?

Old Will Knott is a great online source, in spite of its name. The Myweigh scales are one of the best values. They probably have at least one in the range you want. I have one that's accurate to 0.1g with a 5.5kg capacity. It's survived many years of abuse in my kitchen.

Check out the electronic scales listed on ebay. I think you can find one for your needs for less than $30 these days though I'm not sure those will have a 700g capacity.

I just picked on up off Amazon, it does .1 g up to 2000 g. Think it was near 20 bucks.
Go buy some film, and release the magic.

I'm a fan of the Ohaus triple beam balance.

We live in a world that throws everything away, why stop now?
Hell, just about everything we buy will end up in a landfill.

Can't help with the LCD, my recommendation would be to switch to a triple beam. The one I have is about 25 years old now and I used it commercially for 15 years, still works as well as the day I bought it new. It may no longer look new but it has never given me a bit of trouble and if something nasty gets spilled on it, it gets washed off not replaced.

And hey.....if you are using an analogue camera what do you need a digital scale for anyway

Digital scales are so much faster, it's hard to go back.
I use mine in the kitchen for complex recipes ... it would be an incredible nuissance to use a beam balance. Especially considering the single-button tare feature.
Sometimes the new stuff is just better.

Junk it and buy a film camera.
