Maybe there are, I do not know, as the medium size board and pen I use are old and well-used (scrapped up), three models back probably, and purchased used.
Before digital, I applied Dr. Martin Dyes and Marshall's Photo Oils directly on prints, so I went into developing a technique in PS that I adopted from hand-coloring prints.
The negative is 4x5" and digitized using my 50mg digital back, making it very large and great for enlarging while I work.
I set my colors between 10-20% opaque to mimic the transparency of the dyes and oils I am accustomed to using on a print.
And the rest is history. Practice makes perfect, or what I would edit and say, "makes good technique."
You're very good. I first saw hand painted photos when I was a kid and the formal family shots were done on BW film. Then the artist would paint in skin colors and rosy red cheeks especially on children's shots like the one of my sister and me pictured below.
Then I ran into it again when I visited Clyde Butcher's gallery in Venice Florida. His wife Nicki, an artist in her own right, colors BW photos. We bought a couple when there and mounted them on our walls at home. Recently she put together a book of her work that I bought as a gift for my wife who was the one who bought her work when we were there originally. The book is done so professionally. Beside the work, the binder, pages, prints, everything about it is first class and at a reasonable price. You might want to take a look at it. Best regards.
