4x5 fp4+/pyrocat hd/9" Gundlach Hyperion lens. This is a "cable area" sign or was at one time. It went to a tower on nearby Monroe Island that was part of a system of four towers for ships in Penobscot bay to do a measured mile. It had many official military uses, particularly in WWII, but it actually goes back much further. This was always a ship building area, so such speed testing was common and useful.
