This image might have been better suited to the Foma 400ISO that I also had in several holders my bag. It was a bit windy and you can see that from the foliage in the picture.

Also the flies were biting ;^(

These two shots were made at the two different corner towers at the Forbidden City in Beijing a couple months ago on the Chamonix Alpinist X 8x10 camera with my Fujinon C 300mm lens. The first one was a sunrise shot of the eastern tower made on Provia 100F and the second was the western tower shot just before sunset on Velvia 100. I'm quite pleasantly surprised by how the Velvia 100 was able to handle the dynamic range and as expected the colour rendering of both films are significantly different. I have yet to experiment with large format Velvia 50, but I'll need a more suitable subject for that.

These are nice shots. I'd expect Provia to provide more range. But the shadow on the from part of the building with Provia seems to be the difference. I think you're going to like Velvia 50. I do; more than Velvia 100. Problem is I have to buy Velvia 50 in 4x5 directly from Japan and it's expensive. I think you may have to do the same with 8x10.

Yes, you are right, I did already buy a box from Japan and indeed it's expensive, the main issue for me is the import duty, if only I can ship to Hong Kong and pick it up myself, that would bring down the expense by about 30%.

I'm still waiting for the right conditions to bring out the Velvia, hopefully I'll get some opportunities this summer.
