Kodak Aero Ektar 6,3/48" Largest lens I have seen

Kodak Aero Ektar 6,3/48" A 48" lens for a 9x18 camera. This thing is 200 LBS. It appears to of been used by the USAF. I would guess it was used for Ariel photography. There is a knob in the side to color shift the lens, I am sure this thing was ton and tons of money when built new cant imagine the wonderful glass they use today

I do not post a link to an Ebay item for anything other than conversation. The coverage is listed as 510mm, look how it dwarfs the 35mm roll of film as wells as the Canon camera. A whole new meaning to ULF dont you think. Would make a nice field camera dont you think?

Fun to see an engine hoist being used for a camera lens!

It appears to be telephoto too, so you wouldn't need 5-6' of bellows. I bet it covers more than 9x18. That seller always has expensive cool stuff on Ebay that I can't afford.

Aero Ektars in this size are useless/valueless dinosaurs.
Use the search to find out more about them.

Tiny little lens of nothing at all.

Surplus Shed uset to have a 36"/4 Perkin Elmer monstrosity, used it as a coffee table. I've put my elbows on it. See http://www.surplusshed.com/pages/item/t1524.html

The USSR that used to be made some truly monstrous lenses for aerial cameras. See the 1963 GOI catalog, which can be downloaded from http://www.lallement.com/pictures/files.htm

The Aero Ektars were made from glass that is mildly radioactive. However, given the size of this one, you might want to be careful with it.
