    Please tell me more about old B&L lens.

    I recently purchased a lens on ebay, on the face plate there are 'BAUSCH & LOMB OPTITICAL CO.' 'ROCHESTER, NY & NEW YORK'
    741
    PAT MAY 15, 88
    seller said it was 8 inch focal length. I like to know more about this lens.

    Thats a very unusual shutter that is probably pretty early. The lens is most likely a Rapid Rectilinear type. Without any writing on it, it would require researching old catalogs to be sure.

    Your shutter is the first style B&L produced . I would bet the optics are B&L as well.
