Thanks, both of you. I am sorry to hear of your family members suffering or having suffered from it as well.

Moving forward, I think this disease will be one of the biggest challenges to modern medicine, considering the aging populace. I pray that something can be found to stop and/or prevent it.

Absolutely beautiful, what a wonderful photo and a slice of precious time. Fortunate, that for now at least, she's able to be home. My 88 year old uncle finally had to go to a skilled level nursing home. He requires help with everything, he's still pretty good mentally, but just a shadow of his former self.
Really a great shot, thanks for sharing your story.

I have been meaning to try shooting more pinhole, and also inspired by Alex Gard's recent images, so tried shooting some at a salt marsh in south Mississippi. Was wading in boots to get these.

Shot these with my Shen-Hao PTB-617. Focused a 90mm lens at infinity and then switched out the Travelwide Pinhole to use instead. Acros 100 in Pyrocat:
    Corran,
I like the first one of the trees!
What I don't understand: why did you focus your 90mm first? With pinhole there is nothing like focus, you could choose any distance setting on your Shen-Hao and it works like a zoom.
I looked at your blog and love all these great wood, tree and water photographs very much.

I love the picture of your grandmother!! Looking at it I really feel like being there, perfect composition and exposure.

    Hi Dierk,

I did that just to make sure I had the camera extended at around 90mm (the Nikkor technically has a 97mm FFD but close enough). I wanted to approximate the 90mm viewpoint and I also knew the pinhole was optimized for around that "focal length" so went with it. Thanks!

Your prayers may have been answered. Too late for your grandma (and my mother-in-law), but maybe not for those unaffected so far by Alzheimer's. This looks promising. ...

that is the problem when using the bellows as a 'zoom' for pinhole.

    Ratzeburger Dom with 6x17 pinhole

6x17 pinhole wiith RealitySoSubtle on Bergger Pancro400,
used the upper pinhole = shifted 'lens'

exposure time 20 min, at f/233!
should have been much longer due to reciprocity failure, it was very dark, measured 1/4 sec. at f/11 for ISO400 film
    developed in Rodinal 1:50, 22 min., 22C
    scan with Epson V800

Dierk, nice pinhole image! Sharp, but with a subtle "glow" to it. The "shift" of the lens is a very interesting feature.

OK, admitting I know nothing about 617 I am totally in love and enthralled with this format. Sticker shock looking at some of the prices on Ebay. I guess I'm still expecting film cameras to be dirt cheap
