HABS Processing and Documentation

The May/June View Camera Magazine has good article by the folks from a photolab that does a lot of HABS work. There is an interesting discussion of the business side, i.e., the accompanying documentation for the work and the lab standards to please the feds. There is also some info on newer standards on digital media.

The Photo Arts article does a nice job of explaining the requirements for regular processing. Since these requirement have been around since the 1930s they are pretty set. However the digital methodology is pretty tricky and I would not attempt to submit digital mount cards without first calling James Rosenthal at HABS and having him walk you through it. They are very helpful, but the digital submissions are complex.
