I have the Vivitar flash bracket for mine which is virtually the same thing (actually, the Vivitar is a little more anatomically contoured). It's really quite nice, and quite a bit less expensive than a Technika hand grip. In addition to that, I have a pistol grip that I screw into the bottom of the flash bracket on the right side. With both of those, I gain a lot of stability and control (but also weight). I'll have to take a picture, it's hard to describe unless you're familiar with the items.

I'll have to try the shoulder thing too. Thanks for mentioning it!

hmmm.. you guys are good. i like 100 at least. having the solenoid hooked up to the flash button helps a bit, but fast as i can and still get enough light in. the side trigger nearly always makes camera shake at less than 100 for me.

You don't specify what model Speed Graphic you have. Regardless, the focal plane shutter release has a hole to accept a cable release. At slow speeds it's imperative that you use a strong tripod and cable release. The same applies to the front shutter. For slow speed focal plane shots, it can help to press straight down on the camera while releasing the shutter. You can also hang a gallon jug of water from the center of the tripod to help dampen vibration. To hand hold a Speed Graphic, it's important to use the proper stance and, if possible, brace yourself against something to help steady the camera. Have you searched the archives at Graflex.org ? Lots of helpful info on everything Speed Graphic.
