    Thanks Bryan. I wanted to have the focus fall off at the curve shape halfway up the picture (at the top of the stairs) so that it would have a kind of 'stage-set' feeling. To be honest, I'm not the most scientific of photographers-basically, to achieve this effect I just avoid movements, focus on something very near the front, and then stop down to f32 or f45 and hope for the best.

    It is a testament to the "branding" of those photographers because I know just who you mean from the mere description of their usual subjects.

    Kind of like how when you mention "a guy who shoots all kinds of vintage cameras, vintage lenses, old films and different subjects without regard to technical perfection" and people immediately think of.....Jim Galli!
