I'm still learning this digital stuff. I know that DIGITAL ICE is supposed to remove dust from color images (correct me if I am wrong) . Does it do anything else? Or - is dust its main function?

It uses infrared scan to determine if there is dust and subtracts it from the image (digitally).
That is about all it does.
It does not work on silver films (black and white typically) because the silver and infrared don't work together well.
So primary use is to identify and remove dust on color or chromogenic black and white film.
Thanks -- that is just what I needed to Know.
Also doesn't work on Kodachrome. I feel I loose some sharpness so I only use it when I have to, then it is nice to have. Also will double scanning time.
