28xx are paper development drums. The actual drum body is identical with 25xx series film drums, but they are sold with a cup-type lid and wall-clip dividers rather than a funnel lid and central column.
The reel will fit only if you already have the innards (central column and funnel lid) of a matching film drum (2583) or enough spare Jobo tank bits to make up the same (as the system is modular and interchangeable there are many ways to arrive at the right amount of column parts from 15xx and 25xx tanks). Besides that, a 28xx can also be used for rotatory sheet film development if you shoot sizes held by the dividers (9x12cm, 10x15cm, 13x18cm and many bigger ones, but no 4x5", at any rate on the drums marketed in Europe) and shoot film whose backing does not resent wall contact or which can be cleared and washed later on outside the drum...
Many of my film drums have over the course of more than two decades been replaced by 28xx, as the sealing failures that killed the old ones always affected the parts common to both systems, and I have often lost divider clips while all my funnels and columns never went missing or broke.
Hello Sevo,,
So I guess I need a different drum for film..? I guess my question is what drum would I need to use for a Duo-set 2502 reel ,, a 2500 series drum and will that work with a Jobo CPE2 processor..?
