Sounds like 120 is closed over Tioga Pass, not the entry from Sonora.
Always call before mountain travel in Winter.
If you look at the link I posted, ALL roads are closed. 120 over Tioga Pass has been closed for a while (it usually closes late Oct., early Nov). The entry from Sonora on 120 and is listed as Big Oak Flat Rd (120 heads east at Crane Flat). Even 140 (from Mariposa) is closed. That doesn't happen a lot.
I stand corrected!
Thanks Scott!
I called to verify.... Damn this would be a great weekend to be there.
Looks like I won't be driving up to my place this weekend. Dakotah - studded tires are
not the custom here. Bad for the asphalt they say. Chains are probably safer anyway.
It's a Looooong ways to ski into Yosemite via the roads, which will probably open in a
few days anyway. Sometimes people ski in over Tioga in winter (but too avalanche
prone now!)
Most of the roads reopened a little while ago, according to the park website.
The roads into the valley all closed because last nights wet heavy snow started bringing down trees. It should be quite spectacular after they clear the trees. Actually there wasn't that much snow that fell at valley level - just wet and heavy.
Check out these pictures from Mammoth. The Eastside got buried!
The left picture is the Chart House! The right is old Mammoth Rd (just past the Chart House). The hotel is the Sierra Nevada Lodge.

The Chart House. Isn't that where Kit Carson's daughter was buried?
