Does the Pentax 1/21 degree "early cds version" spot meter lend itself to using one of the zone dials similar to those by Zone VI and other copies? I have a mint one available, adjusted and guaranteed at a decent price with the battery mod.

Yes. I had one of these meters and the Zone VI dial worked just fine. Try one just to be sure, before committing to serious work, though.
