I just bought a Linhof viewfinder online. I'm surprised to find that the dimensions of the frame don’t look like 4x5 at all – more like 2x3/35mm. Very surprising. What's the deal?

Which finder did you buy and which mask did it have? A current Linhof 45 finder (those made for the past 30 years has a lens zoom ring from 75 to 360mm. What is yours?
Hi Bob,
Scale reads 90-360. Serial #7150. Lousy photo attached. Thanks for the info.

This is the first model "Linhof-Universalsucher" from the early fifties. Seen from the eyepiece, the right-hand scale, 90 - 360mm lenses, is for 9x12cm/4x5" and the left-hand scale, 120-500mm lenses, for 13x18cm/5x7".
The "newer" models are much better.
