Dating a Deardorff V8

And, no, I'm not looking for a hot night on the town...

I visited Ken Hough's Deardorff Historical Website and from the information there have a rough idea of when my #582 was made, but Ken's email address is no longer valid and he offered to check the original serial number list for anyone who requested it.

Does anyone know if Ken is still around and in business? Anyone have new contact information? Searching has turned up nothing new.

If he's not around, has this record of serial numbers passed to different hands?

Mine is #509 and I believe its from 1950.
There were some threads here and there about Mr. Hough's turnaround time on restorations, which were getting lengthy. I would guess that he's staying pretty low key.

Hi I have just aquired a 10 x 8 Deardorff and wonder where the serial number is? Mine doesn't have a serial number on the front bright-work as others I have seen.

Hi nn,

You probably have a pre-1950 model which was when thay started putting serial numbers on. I assume your model has no front swing (unless it was converted) and no metal tripod plate on the bottom.

It does not have any front swing but does have the round metal tripod plate on the base.
