Unhappy Black paint coming off inside lens housing...

A not-insignificant amount of black paint has come off the inner lens housing underneath the lens. (back side of lens inside bellows). Will this affect my images? I realize that the black matte paint is necesssary to inhibit unwanted light reflections. The question is how much will it affect the images and what can I do about it. Any suggestions?

    thanks,
    Walter

The best thing is to remove the old loose paint, clean and repaint with flat black paint.
Use some fine sandpaper to remove the corosion that probably caused the paint to flake/loosen, but be ever so carefull not to scratch the lens.

You will almost never see the effect on the picture. This is because it will just reduce the color saturation and the contrast and you would need comparative pictures to see it. If that is a consolation...
