Epson Expression 10000XL HR Flatbed Scanner

Does anyone have experience with the Expression 10000XL High Resolution Flatbed Scanner? I am looking into a new scanner to scan negatives and reversal film and want to keep the cost somewhat reasonable (although that is very subjective!).
Drum scanners are probably better, but quite a bit pricier!

    Thanks in advance

Unless you need the larger scan area you should consider the V700 or V750 for less than one third the price, much faster, and better Dmax. I have the 10000XL and it works well, but it's sloooow....

The other advantage of the tabloid sized 10000XL is that it has automatic and manual focus. This is almost unheard of these days except on equipme cost 4+ times as much.

Have you tried the latest drivers? Mine runs about 5 times faster than with the driver that originally came with the machine. Plus there are numerous extra adjustment features too. You can get them from the Epson site.

I have both machines but there is a quirk with the Epson drivers and both machines being used on a Mac 10.5. To get around with this issue, I run an Epson driver on the 10000xl and Silverfast on the 750V. The fact that I can focus with the 10000xl is a nice feature too. The 750V is kind of a pain to get the focus absoluetly right IMHO.
