Holden,
Nice image. Quite a tonal range.
What scanner did you use?
I have that lens. I've only used it on the Eskofot process camera for high-contrast litho negatives (line art) for sheet-fed offset lithography - same-size reproduction to about 1/10 size. I've been wanting to try it on my 4x5 for "real world" images (focusing beyond a few feet in front of the lens).
It's a bit of a beast - heavier than my Nikon D800E with 50mm lens. And I'm wondering just how I'm going to modify a lens board to accept it. Other than a focal plane shutter I don't see how a shutter could be fitted with its 2-1/2" diameter barrel protruding an inch behind the lens board.
I'd guess your exposure for this shot is 1/15-1/30 sec at f/45? Have you fitted the lens with a shutter? Or do you manually control exposure?
Rich
Hi Rich,
First thanks! And yes I use an Epson 4990 for scanning.
As for the lens I think the 305 is actually an Apo-gerogon plasmat of some kind.
Nice and bright. I use filters with the lens so the actual exposure times at f/45 are usually
around a second. I manually expose the film with a lenscap.
As for mounting I got my favourite ebay seller Zbima1 to make a custom board. (They are fully custom for hole size, retaining ring and flange on the lensboard) His boards are affordable and he has been a lifesaver with the odd lenses I've been buying. Good Luck and thanks again!
Thanks. I will look up that eBay seller.
Finally ordered some Pyrocat...I have a bunch of Efke 25 and 100 and Rodinal was not working well for me, somehow. Tried the Pyro and I like it. Exposed at EI of 20 and dev'd for 6 minutes.
