In the woods - great image. I love how my eye is drawn upward through the stream and then it bounces around to discover the textures in the dark tones and reflections of water on the rocks. North GA has a messiness to it that creates a whole different feel than the expanses of the west.
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I made about 20 contact prints two nights ago from 4x5 negatives I've shot over the last year or so. Here's a scan of a print, taken under Jax Beach Pier in Florida.
Ilford HP5+ film shot with a Sinar Handy and 65mm f/8 SA lens (handheld), printed on Fomabrom VC 112 paper dev'd in Neutol WA and selenium toned. This is an accurate portrayal of the print color.
Fantastic control of your tonal values there brian. Awesome print.
