I have one of these dinosaurs. Bought it in the mid 80s. Never got good at using it but did manage to do some printing. Been thinking about digging it out and selling it. Is it worth anything?

About what the metal is worth, unless it's something special.

Its worth using if it works.
Its worth fixing if one wants to use it.
Its worth owning to someone if you want to give it away.

Its not worth anything if you throw it away.

Value depends on what it comes with. Carrier with good glass and lensboard with a usable lens. And since it's probably only local pickup the location effects price. You might get $100 for it in a large metro area with some market. Also I'm talking about the 8x10 models. Try putting it up for sale here. You never know and it's free. I'd buy another one for spare parts if it was cheap enough.

I used one of these for about twenty years and I replaced the bulb with an Aristo Cold Light Head (Aristo 810) with either a W45 orW55 grid. At the time I had access to a machine shop and modified the enlarger (installed a 1/4 inch aluminum plate where I replaced the upper "bell" with the Aristo 810) and fabricated a motorized focusing drive using a Hurst High-torque motor. I also installed a volt meter and a Variac to regulate the intensity of the light (grid voltage - not the heater voltage). I also modified the negative carrier with a stop which centered the carrier in the opening (needed because the Aristo 810 is just that -8x10). I used a Schneider 305mm f9 ReproClaron and I was very satisfied with the enlarger.
