Once you approach with a big tripod and 5 x 7 and get set up with all the gear, everyone tends to back up to watch the spectacle ...

I presume these are scans of the prints. Beautiful. Not as good as the actual print, I am sure.

Makes me want to take the beast (8x10 Orbit) out so I can make some silver chloride contact prints.

    Hi Al,

Thanks ... yes, these are scans direct from the prints. That Fomalux silver chloride (AZO-type) paper is very nice. Make sure you get the fiber glossy and not the RC type!

Would look great with your 8x10 negs.

A partially disassembled train sitting on a siding. I guess this could have gone in the "Ruins" thread also.

Joe, this shot is great. Makes me want to go find some trains to shoot in all this cloudy weather we have going in NYC. (I don't think there is anywhere that would let me close enough to take a similar picture though.)

Justin, that train is (or was, it was a couple of years ago) in New Hope, PA, not too long a drive from NYC. When you are through photographing (we have ample cloudy weather these days as you know) you can stop at the nearby Triumph Brewing Company for a fresh beer.

One of my favorite places! Chances are it's still there, they haven't gotten anything up and running in recent years that wasn't already running. The run steam and diesel depending on the day.

I can second the recommendation for Triumph Brewing Company. They have great views of the trains too, it's literally on the other side of the tracks. Not to mention good beer.
