    Question Best film for negatives from slides

    Can Anyone Share Any Experiences With Projecting Color Slides Onto 8 X 10 Film To Make A Large Negative For Contact Printing On B & W Material? I Note Freestyle Offers An Efke Emulsion BUT There Must Be Something Slower Than Iso 50. Thanks Much For Helping A New Seeker. Novaphoto

    I don't think you'll find much slower films now but I'm not sure. Why not just use neutral density filters in the enlarger. A few filters in a stack can get you to ASA 1.0 or lower.

    Plenty of films will work fine for this, provided they have a reasonably long straight
    line and you expose and develop properly. It really helps to have a vacuum filmholder and an enlarging lens with the correct magnification ratio. Be sure that
    the enlarger is well aligned. You can also use colored filters to control scene contrast just like outdoors. But you will need to make some tests for the actual film speed.
    As noted previously, filters can also be used to achieve neutral density.
