Thank you. I remember feeling somewhat ambivalent about the shot when taking it, but am quite pleased how it turned out.

It's like I'm in the photo and enjoying the view!

Gabe, well done. Tell us where that is, please? Living in Arizona makes me nostalgic for country where there is rain and greenery.

Thank you. It is in the county of Cheshire in England. This shot was taken from a large hill called Tegg's Nose (a site of an old millstone grit quarry), looking over Macclesfield Forest and towards Shutlingsloe (the peak in the distance).

This was made after an aborted morning effort to photograph in the Alabama Hills outside of Lone Pine. Lightning was striking too close for comfort, so I headed north on 395 and was rewarded with this clearing storm over Mono Lake. With my back to the Sierra Nevada Range, I waited for the setting sun to leave the foreground in shadow. Randy, this makes a very nice 16x20 print.
    Merg,
Beautiful photograph of Mono Lake and your narative adds more to the image. About 6 years ago my wife and I were heading south on 395 from Reno to Lee Vining. We were about 80 miles north of Lee Vining and a storm was clearing ahead of us but the sun was setting and we didn't get there until after dark. Alas, the next morning we were greeted with clear blue skies.

Thanks showing me what we missed.

    Best regards,
    Pat

One of the most interesting images I've seen of Mono Lake. I love how the dark rock in the water looks like reflected clouds from the sky.

    Howtek Scan

    Epson V850 scan
The Howtek scan looks far superior on my monitor (Spectraview). Not only the color, but there is more detail. A lot more. I have the 850, but you are making me want a drum scanner.
