Thanks - I did use a bit of front tilt. Gotta be careful you don't go too far and throw the tops of trees, or in this case the waterfall, out of focus. Just a little goes a long way. Still also stopped down to f/22 and a half so plenty of DOF to go around.

Gotcha! Keeping mental notes which means I'll forget as soon as I click the little button the bottom right....
Just kidding, I'll remember, after 10 crappy negs and then I'll remember...

Thanks Jon. I looked around for a good 30 minutes trying to figure out a composition or two. Leaves are falling soon so hopefully will have some nice eddies and movement lines to use next time.

Yes they are! You are so right. I'm surrounded by very successful people and they always tell me "know how I got here?" "I f*ed up 99 times out of a hundred, but I still get up and do it the thing" That's the meaning of success...

I found it helpful to select one subject - say just one shot of the above waterfall - and then play with trying to shoot it with small aperture, then try a bit of front tilt, then try a bit of rear tilt - even if you didn't expose any more film but look at the effect on the GG.

It helped me build up a mental picture of how to set the camera up to do xxxxxxx

Of course, this playing with the camera controls is best done when the quality of the light isn't right for shooting and you are not missing your "oh wow" shot.

Lovely Corran. My MPP doesnt really offer forward tilt, have to lower the door so the rails dont show in frame when shooting 75 or 90mm, just make sure I use the smaller apertures for required DOF.
