    Omega enlarger lens boards

Just picked up a Nikkor 135mm enlarging lens. The Omega I currently have at home has a Schneider 50mm on it, but since I do mostly MF, LF and panoramic printing it's not of much use.

Will the lens board on it already fit the new lens I bought, or do I need to find a lens board just for it?

Colin, I have a 135 and a 50 and the lens boards look similiar except that opening is too small on my fifty board to accept the 135. Check the hole size and see if it's the same and it might work. This is for my d5xl boards, I'm not sure about the other Omega models.

You will need the proper size lens cone, as well as the proper size lens board. If you already have the lens cone for a 135 lens, the same size lens board will fit the 135 as the 50. I believe they both use 39mm lens mounts.

On my old Omega D2, my 50, 80, 105, and 135 El-Nikkor lenses screwed directly into a threaded 39mm lens board. However, the 150 Rodagon required a 50mm opening in the lens board, as well as a longer lens cone.

Not familiar with the cone - it's a D2 (older) enlarger, IIRC

Search eBay for Omega Cone and you will see them selling for as little as $8.00. I think you will have trouble focusing the 135 until you get the proper cone.

For Omega parts, try KHB Photografix. They also have an eBay store, but not all parts are listed there, so you'd better contact them by e-mail. They reply quite promptly to e-mails.
I got my lens boards from them. Very nice people to deal with, and very fast shippers.

Hi Colin, I recommend looking on ebay for a 2.5 inch cone with 39mm hole lens board attached. A 4" cone would also work, but you would have to raise the enlarger head higher for large prints.

And check to see what condenser set you have. The 135mm will take the 6 1/2" condenser. You may have a 3 1/2" condenser if the D2 is set up for 35mm. The DII/D2 had different condenser sets and different lens cones or flat boards the different lens focal length.
