    Nikkor-W 100mm

Does anyone have experience with this lens? And does it cover 4x5 with movements?

    Thanks,

    Chris.

The Nikon catalog lists a 105W, but not a 100W.

The f5.6 105W has an image circle of 155 mm at f22, which will barely cover 4X5 with no movements.

It is not considered to be a wide angle lens

I believe there was a 100mm that predated the 105mm in the Nikkor-W series.

But I'd expect the coverage to be as tight as with the 105, if not slightly tighter because of the marginally shorter focal length in what's probably the same optical design. The Nikkor W series are intended as normal lenses, not wide angles.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

    I have both the Nikkor W 100mm and Nikkor W 105mm lenses.

The 105mm W is much more common, covering 4x5 and was part of the modern Nikon catalogue up and until they discontinued all their LF lenses.

The 100mm W-Nikkor is smaller, and was made for 6x9 cameras. It comes in an old type (not "s") 5-bladed copal 0 shutter. I don't think it covers 4x5. Along with its twin the 105mm M-Nikkor, this lens has lettering and finish to be modern Nikkor LF lenses, but is rarer and seldom found. I believe this pair was also discountinued years before the other modern lenses as it does not appear in the catalogue I have from the mid 1990's.

    Hope that helps,

    LH
