I've seen Doug Bardell's site listed several times as a link for DIY large format construction. He has quite a collection of projects and plans for making bellows. I was not aware that he sold plans and I've never dealt with him personally. There are some free 8x10 plans on the net that you might find helpful. See, for example,

    http://www.srv.net/~vail/camera.htm

There are also a wide variety of sites for DIY camera building as well as at least one book and one or two View Camera articles. Let me know if you are interested in these and I'll post them.

    Martin:

I decided to post this list just in case you (or anyone else) might be interested in DIY camera building. Most of the links, books, etc. deal with LF construction but a few pertain to 6x9, 6x12, etc. All of the links were still alive as of today. I hope this helps your search. (I also hope that they are posted in a readable format!)

I bought a set of his plans for an 8x10 field camera. It's just a basic set of blueprints. No instructions included but they are done well and quite understandable. I also bought the book Building A Large Format Camera from Jon Grepstad. It's got step by step instructions for building a 4x5 monorail camera with a section on how to upsize to an 8x10. I highly reccomend this book if you're thinking about building from scratch. Here's the URL: http://home.online.no/~gjon/jgcam.htm You can also download plans for an 8x10 field camera from this site. http://www.srv.net/~vail/camera.htm He's got step by step instructions with drwaings and photos.

    Have fun,

    Jackie
