I meant no built in meter. I don't expect to have one in LF or MF cameras, so it's a bit liberating to realise that there's no reason to have one in a 35mm camera either. I did use a handheld meter, and each time I used it I tried to apply Sunny 16 for educational purposes, but in the 10/10 cloud cover and low sun of a Nova Scotian December, it seems to be more like Sunny 8!

Anyway, I took a nice walk at one of my typical places in the brisk winter weather (finally) and shot a roll of T-Max 100 with my Contax III. This lens is phenomenal - really high contrast despite being an early uncoated version (or maybe single-coated?). Here's two shots:

I like this last one and need to go back and shoot a similar composition on 4x5, or maybe 8x10...
    These are Amazing!

Today's bright sunshine over a frozen pond deep in the woods gives a veiled look:

Weirdest Christmas weather ever. It was 70-80 all week in south Mississippi and foggy almost everyday for the entire day. Might have been good for photos but I hardly had the opportunity to shoot.

Here's some late-night fog at a new pier built from the remains of a bridge destroyed by Katrina. Leica M9, Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 Millennium:

I'd say this opportunity is a great Christmas gift, nice photo.

IN Death Valley in January we call the heavy dark clouds, "2 stop clouds". This fits perfectly with your "sunny 8" rule.
Never leta a little darkness stop you.

Thanks scheinfluger_77, and BoilerBasher as well up above.

While I love shooting film the most, the Leica M9 and a fast lens is definitely the best casual family snaps camera I could ask for. I used to use a big DSLR and flash but that gets obnoxious. Here's a casual shot of my grandparents which I really enjoy:
