Tuco, your shot is beautiful! The cross and eclipse reminds me of my own pic, but with way more intensity and impact than mine. I hope you don't mind the comparison. I just got back from watching the eclipse in Albany Oregon. Magical experience, but I think I was mislead by the fake news about the path of totality. I think the path is way wider than they let on. You can still see it if you're in the right place at the right time. This is my best shot, taken a few minutes after it was supposedly over and done ...
Nice catch, Peter.
Interesting composition.

This cute little guy visited me today:
I love mantids...I actually kept one as a pet when I was little. I've always found them to be very sociable insects. They will crawl right up on my hand if given a chance. This one was very curious of the camera. At one point he started reaching out towards me and when I moved in a little closer he climbed right up onto my lens! I put it down to grab a pic with my cell phone but he hopped off then. Oh well. Shot with a Nikon D800E and 200mm Micro.
Yeah they are fascinating to me. Once when I was younger I saw a female that was on a sunflower. It was as large as the entire sunflower head...huge! When I approached she hopped off and flew away a few hundred feet - the sight and sound of it was amazing.
I took some macro video of him as well which can be found HERE. Looking online I think it is a Carolina mantis.
Bryan,
Great images...
