Decided to try to figure out this whole focus stacking thingy - tried it more than 10 years ago and did it manually in PS - took way to long. Used my Fuji X100v, had the camera shoot the exposures automatically and processed them in CombineZP. I think it worked pretty good. More experimenting to do. This is 15 images blended together.

Supplemental Octobox 150 Diffuser added. Notice the attractive catchlight in the glass vase. 4x6ft foamcore panel just off camera right for passive fill. Canvas background painted by James Bright. 1500J Broncolor C200 Monolight gets me to F16 one pop with filtered 100 film.

Nice one Bryan. You may be thinking of Whooping Cranes, of which there are so few. Sandhill Cranes are currently “of least concern” from a conservation standpoint. They are wonderful birds.

Thanks, but take a look at Mississippi Sandhills. They are a distinct species. Yes, they look very similar to normal Sandhills.

This one is smaller and untagged, so perhaps younger. From my understanding they are slightly darker grey than regular Sandhills.

I've seen thousands of regular Sandhills at other refuges. One excellent refuge is Wheeler in north Alabama.
