Here's another from the Galli/Volquartz Tonopah workshop:
Goldfield Car etc, Seneca Whole Plate camera
    Verito 8 1/4" lens at f/4
    Ilford FP-4 film (EI 100)
Pyro HD at 68 degrees for 8 minutes in rotary processor
Brightness and contrast adjusted in photoshop:

Cool car Jim, and another old lens rapidly appreciating in value-
I like your focus in that one-

Too bad that our old rubbish over here is nowhere near as iconic, very jealous...

Very nice Verito look Jim, I like the shot a lot. It's not easy getting a decent exposure in outdoor daylight at f/4 with the usual Studio Shutter those lenses pack. Does yours have another type of shutter, or have you other tricks up your sleeve? I've also found it to be a hit or miss proposition to maintain a background with nice Bokeh as you have done, rather than the bodacious bedlam I frequently achieve shooting a Verito open at distance. Anyway, nice work, nice shot, nice car (Galli Livery Service hack I presume? Picks you up in it at the local aerodrome?).

I'm new to LF... I didn't know that shallow DOF wasn't big in this format.

Jim, that's one of my very favorite shots from the workshop.

For those interested the folks that attended the workshop in Tonopah have been extremely generous with sharing the work completed over at APUG. You may have to "join" the Tonopah group to see the pictures, but anyone can join and there are about 250 pictures done on the workshop to view.

Here is a link to a shot I took while this lowly disciple was with the Master, aka, Jim G.,
last September at the Ely Train Museum and Repair Shop. I would welcome constructive critique. The shot was taken with a Ross 10 inch lens on my Century Universal 8x10.

After shooting a scene with medium format (a zeiss 110/2 planar wide open), I decedied to play a little and see how some other LF lenses would do it. All were shot using the Betterlight and 4x5 Ebony. I shot with a 9" Veritos, 6" HBH, and 2 random Meniscus lenses. Everything was shot wide open (well.. one of the Veritos shots i stopped down to f6.)

    9" Veritos wide open (color)

9" Veritos wide open.. f4.5 (B/W shot without IR block filter)

9" Veritos f6 (B/W shot without IR block filter)

6" Haydens, Booth Holmes wide open (B/W shot without IR block filter)
