    If you like Walker Evans…

A small book I did with documents available from Library of Congress - NY -

Pictures choice is according to my taste so is the book appearance, nothing else…

You can download the resulting PDF file from the following address:
    http://payral.club.fr/W_Evans.pdf

    Of course, it's free.
    Enjoy.

He did have some great compositions, but not all were done in camera. And his method of "cropping" would appall many of us. According to Walker Evans at Work, " once he figured out the cropping he liked, he would trim the negative, so that was all that could be printed. Still, he managed to merge art and documentary better than anyone else, with the possible exception of Wright Morris.

If it ain't broke....don't fix it!

Agrred, Michael, and ditto Wright Morris (who gave up photography way too soon for writing... unfortunately for this art form) but this being the LF forum, when I think Evans, I think his 8x10 contacts more so than his later work in smaller formats.

I just get a blank book page which says "Walker Evans" at the bottom (using a PC). No images, and no pdf stuff (the cursor is a little hand). How do I open the book?

That's the cover. Just go down to next pages or save the file on your hard disk.

I have a PC and I can't view the images as well. I guess it only works with Macs.
