My Rochester Premo B 4x5 camera, made c.1902. I've also a couple of double plate holders. The shutter probably was a later (1910's) modification, as the B&L Volute shutters probably were not offered with these cameras.

Given the fact that the camera was in such deplorable condition I guess I can understand the willingness to turn it into something it was never intended to be. Converting it to a 20" bellows camera is a good thing because as an engineer I cringe on materials removal to save weight. There are plenty of options available if weight is a dominant objective constantly reminding oneself that compromise is an art form unto itself. I am reminiscent of my Grandfather who used to say, "If you want to get the job done right, use the right tools".

I’ve been in Paris for the last two weeks making pictures. Hauled the Wehman over here with 50 sheets of film.
