Oh yes; the flash is the most fun. The burnt lacquer smell and slight sizzle sound when the bulbs fire is rather addictive.

    It looks pretty substantial. Heavy?

With a lens - Rodenstock-Sironar F5.6 150mm being what I had to hand - 2100g. Not heavy at all, though my home-made wooden camera, sans lens, is 1200g. I hate to think what the MPP Micro Press weighs... three or four kilos.

Next in a long line of "Cameras I Will One Day Sell" is my first wood camera, the venerable Kodak 2D.
I've always had an aversion to wood cameras, even the best-made ones, like Lotus or Chamonix.
Not a knock on the companies or manufacturing, just my preference for cameras that can handle all of nature's elements and provide a good/high degree of precision.
The 2D is not my first, or fifth, choice for a camera, but these days I'm just happy to have an 8x10 back in the house after a 2-year layoff.
I'm liking the simplicity and fact that I can make most replacement parts myself, if needed.

Just finished fixing it up, and now shooting some film to test lightproof-icity.

That's a beautiful setup. I love stuff like that. I have a Deardorff commercial camera with a huge stand it's definitely not going anywhere.
