    Volute Shutters

I have four Volute shutters in varying states of non-workability. I really like their looks and want to get them into first-class shape. Who repairs/CLA Volute shutters?

    Paul,
All of mine also say 'pat. app,d'. The large one (#3?) is fitted with a 'Cooke Lens, H. D. Taylor's patents, May 28 1895 Sept 22 1898' so I'd suppose the date could be around the turn of the century. Maybe?

    Paul,

Thanks, hopefully someone chimes in with the date. Mine has a Zeiss Tessar "Feb 24, 1903"

    Re: Volute Shutters

My 1987-88 copy of McKeown's Price Guide to Cameras has a picture of a Volute and says "Patented 1902, continued until 1935." I don't know if that means the patent was renewed so that it was in force until 1935, or if Volute shutters were produced until 1935.
