    Four firsts ... in 5x7

It's the first time I've used the B&L 12" f7.7 projector lens I got from Jim Galli late last year. And the first time I've used the Packard shutter I got from Matt Blais, oh, so many months ago.

And the first time I've used the new 5x7 reducing back I made for the Triple Victo Whole Plate camera.

And fourthly, it's the first time I've used 5x7 film in over a year.

    Bausch & Lomb 12" f7.7, /3, Fortepan 200, dev'd in Rodinal 1+50.

    Rodenstock APO-Ronar 360mm f9, /2, Fortepan 200, dev'd in Rodinal 1+50.

Nice stiff. I have seen the 5x7 reducing backs for 8x10 cameras, but wondered what you felt the advantages were (over just shooting 8x10). Or is it just something fun to do?

Just being practical ... I couple of years ago I made a 5x7 extension back for my 4x5, but it was seriously limiting because I couldn't get any decent bellows extension for close-ups. So ... sensible option was to make a reducing back for the WP.

Now I can use the rest of the box of film.

Now that I can enlarge 5x7, I have been paying more attention to the format. If I tried it, a reducing back would be the quickest way in to the format for me. I have this 5x7 lens in search of a camera... http://www.largeformatphotography.in...ad.php?t=30826
